- make clear and focused presentations, with different styles (e.g. pitch vs. long presentation)
- understand basics of project management (including the workload and timeschedules)
- approach ill-defined problems with entrepreneurial mindset
- understand industrial research and development needs which include also business, customer and ESH aspects

Content

The course consists of workshops and teamwork on materials science related research question. Workshop topics include for example basics of group work, presentation skills and entrepreneurial mindset. The most part of the research project itself is performed outside the workshops: students will work in small groups on a real research or design project, and the group will be responsible for project management, actual implementation, evaluation, and results reporting. Typically the research project does not contain laboratory work.

A course implementation may be cancelled if the number of students enrolled to the course implementation does not meet the required minimum of five students. In the case of cancelled course implementations, the students enrolled to them must be provided with an alternative way of completing the course or be advised to take some other applicable course.
