LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide students with an understanding of how computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATS) and audit analytics are applied in the audit and internal audit. In addition to the general understanding about the development of audit analytics and different tools, the course provides students with the opportunity to practice with different datasets using the most updated version of an audit analysis tool (ACL). By doing that, students understand how audit analytics can be used in different stages of an audit to generate audit evidence.

Upon completion, students should:

  • Understand the changes regarding using audit analytics in the engagement, its benefits and limitations
  • Understand the initiatives and obstacles of the standard setters to integrate audit analytics in the auditing standards
  • Understand how audit analytics can be used in different stages of an audit
  • Have knowledge of different types of data transfer and analysis tools, be able to import different kinds of data using an audit software
  • Have knowledge and practical understanding of data integrity, be able to perform tests for data integrity with an audit software
  • Have knowledge of how to process and analyze data, including finding patterns, outliers, and be able to perform analysis with audit software and make conclusions based on the analysis results.
  • Understand audit sampling and use audit software to do audit sampling
