    Course has varying contents that may change annually. Different workshops/study events are organized by majors of Art & Media. 

    This Art&Media Programme course is an intensive workshop offered during week 7 of period 4. Several version of this workshop may be offered and students should be careful in choosing the specific workshop identified in their personal study plans.

    Ways of seeing: LIFE - GLASS - CHEM

    The workshop Ways of seeing: LIFE - GLASS - CHEM is organized between Aalto University Department of Art & Media and the Bioart Society. The workshop will accept 14 participants; 7 students from Aalto (master and doctorate level) and 7 professional artists selected by Bioart Society team.

    The workshop will be a brief look into 'ways of seeing': how we look at science - in, around and through instruments; what do we expect from scientific knowledge and how are we accustomed to see it; ....

    The workshop will be hands-on practice with visiting lectures and discussions! We will be seeing and nurturing 'life' (Biofilia-lab). We will make an alchemy experiment - Golden Rain (Biofilia-lab). We will have hands-on instructions in the glass workshop for making very basic laboratory tools (Glass workshop). Lectures, discussions and potential works-in-progress we can have in the MMK2 / Valimo space.

    The course is from monday until friday 9-18pm. Please, make sure you have the time.

    There is a possibility for the few of the Aalto students to attend a short pre-workshop of in the glass-workshop for the 2 days in the previous week (11th and 12th) before the workshop week. This is an additional part - not an actual part of the workshop, and not required for passing the workshop.  During the workshop week, will be sessions in the glass workshop as well.
