LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will leave the course with an general understanding of wood material, wood products and use of wood in construction from an technical, aesthetic, energetic, structural and perspectives.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Lectures and the assignments of the course are organized in four thematic modules: Materials, Surfaces, Structures,  Cycles. The modules cover technical, ecological and aesthetic perspectives on wood construction.  

    Students will follow lectures in four thematic modules and after each lecture module complete an individual analysis task. The analysis will consist of both drawing and written components. Students will be expected to produce drawing analysis regardless of their degree program or background.

     

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Students are assessed on two main components:

    - Quality and logic of the analysis and presentations 

    - Active participation in the discussion in the lectures

    The structure of the course consists of the following:

    Lectures and discussion- 30 hrs

    Individual Analysis Assignments - 132 hrs
