LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Students will develop their visual perception skills through practical two- and three-dimensional work assignments.
  • Students will achieve the basic understanding related to line, color, perspective, and light.
  • Students get acquainted with current art exhibitions and are able to modulate their experiences to support their own creative work.
  • Students are able to present their creative process and discuss the ideas and executions of fellow students in a critique session.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    The core focus of Studio A is to develop the student's personal relationship towards making art. The keyword for the course is "I". The student concentrates on assembling a personal set of artistic and technical skills through learning-by-doing. Two and three dimensional concepts are investigated through short exercises using observation, experience, and memory. The familiar is juxtaposed with novel and provocative concepts.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Perception, exercise, and memory-based exercises. Assignments given by the teacher. Supervised task-based working, critiques, and discussions. Exercises using varying techniques (individual and group working9. Exhibition visits. 

    Assessment criteria. Student's personal development, active participation in class, and the ability to absorb and benefit from the instruction.
