Content

A project with varying content may be initiated by the student's study programme, by some other organization or by the student(s). Suitable project may be for example an extented project based on course or course assignment or a one-time course organized by the University and carried out as a co-operation with a company or an organization. The content will vary for each project and will be explained in the project announcement or project plan. Projects inititated by others than study programme are always agreed upon beforehand with the teacher in charge. Projects with varying contents are elective studies and do not have a registration period. If you plan to study the course, contact the teacher in charge.

AI & Design Course
After this class, the students are able to reflect on the impact of AI on the design profession from different viewpoints.The lecture topics approach this area at least from the following perspectives:
- How designers can utilize AI in their work
- Human-AI Interaction design
- Ethical aspects of AI
The course consists of lectures, reading materials, group discussions, group work, and a final survey.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

The course requires active participation in the lectures and timely submission of all course assignments. To pass the course, the students need to
- Actively attend to all sessions
- Prepare for the interactive session, e.g., by reading materials or getting familiar with AI tools
- Submit all homework assignments showing understanding of the topic of the assignment
- Fill in the final survey
Workload

Study methods are decided per each project. Total workload is 54-270 h.
Course workload depends on the scope of the study attainment. 1 credit equals 27 hours of student's active work. In addition to the active work, 10-20% of reflective processing time should be taken into account when estimating overall workload and respective amount of credits.

The first six sessions include a lecture (~45min), followed by group discussion / work in pairs and presenting the results (~45min).
The final survey is open during the exam week. It requires reflection on the impact of AI on design profession, course feedback, and proposals for the AI topic continuation at the Department of Design.
