LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course the, student is able to:​

  • apply their discipline-specific knowledge and skills to design a small electronic device, covering areas such as user interfaces, customer needs, brand values, product architecture, electronics, materials and manufacturing​
  • understand the perspectives of various disciplines and collaborate with students from business, design and engineering in a product development setting.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    Students work in teams to learn design processes and production technologies. During the course, students are given design constraints related to series size and branding, and work in teams to develop a product to solve an open-ended problem. They take a small electronic device from the initial idea stage to a production-ready plan and produce a rapid prototype.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    The evaluation is based on execution of several subtasks, quality of the product concept, and final presentation. Self- and peer evaluationis also used and active attandance to contact teaching is required.

    Facilitated and independent teamwork, lectures, field trip. 135 hours of work in total.
