LEARNING OUTCOMES

1) To understand the fundamentals of research commercialization, with particular focus on Deep Tech; 2) To understand the elements involved in exploring commercial opportunities; 3) To apply these insights and knowledge working with Deep Tech projects or external parties with an interest in exploring the commercial potential of Deep Tech; with the aim of 4) expanding the participant's network of connections.

    Exploring the opportunity potential of deep tech can involve: A)Participating in Deep Dive is by individual application as an individual or as part of a pre-formed team. The experience is structured in three phases involving some combination of meetups, group work, independent study, reflective essays, reports and internships. The focus of the first phase is research commercialization fundamentals (1 ECTS) working on a case challenge for external projects. Students invited to participate in the second phase (2 ECTS) will need to deepen their understanding of the domain and the science involved working with the project owner. If a participant is chosen to work with the project directly as an intern, and additional 4 to 7 ECTS are available based on an agreement on scope and deliverables between Teacher in charge and the project owner, AND/OR B) undertaking an independent project whose content, deliverables and scope are agreed in advance with the Teacher in charge. The ECTS limit is 10 and participants must choose one point of exit for credit.

    The intake is limited to 170 students for Deep Dive. Students need to apply separately. In student selection, prior studies, motivation, and the multidisciplinarity and diversity of the student group are taken into consideration. For independent projects, there is no limitations.
