LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course will provide the students with a solid understanding of the foundations of organizing, organizational forms, and organizational phenomena in business. After participating in the course, students will (1) be able to distinguish between various forms for organizing business at the organizational and inter-organizational level; (2) know when a certain form is suitable; and (3) understand how organizing can be impacted by technological and institutional changes. Students undertaking this course will become familiar with a series of real-world, contemporary organizational phenomena and learn different theoretical perspectives that can elucidate these phenomena. This course bridges theory and practice, exposing students to a variety of conceptual tools and methods to evaluate novel situations.

Content

    Organizing is shaped by a multitude of institutional and technological conditions which are constantly changing. In this course, we aim to shed light on the evolving phenomenon of organizing in a market-based society by drawing on various theoretical perspectives. We will examine organizing both as a practical challenge facing business leaders and as a phenomenon of societal importance.
