LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the BSc thesis project is to acquire, and practice basic skills and competences for conducting independent research in economics: defining a research question, searching for information relevant to the topic, and writing an academic project.

The aim of the BSc thesis seminar is to acquire and practice how to make a research plan, how to present ideas and results in a clear manner, both orally and in writing, and to give critical and constructive feedback on the research papers of other students.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    The bachelor's thesis & seminar is done in connection with the KTK thesis seminar. The components are (a) Choosing a research topic (b) Preparing a research plan (c) Studying information retrieval (d) Practicing scientific writing (e) Producing a written thesis.

    The seminar components are (i) the preparation and oral presentation of a research plan (ii) the oral presentation of a thesis based on academic research in economics, and (iii) reading and providing constructive comments on other students theses, with emphasis on acting as opponent on one other student s thesis.

    bachelor's thesis, seminar presentation of own research plan and thesis, commenting on other students work, active seminar participation

    Registration:

    It is highly recommended that the bachelor’s seminar is done during the autumn or spring semester. In the summer, the number participants in the seminar can be limited to 20 people due to smaller availability of personnel for supervision.
