  • Create and execute BASH scripts
  • Explain the structure of the Linux operating systems
  • Create user accounts and manage permissions
  • Configure and install basic Linux network services

Content

    This introductory course on Linux operation system and bash shell provides an overview of Linux and open source software ecosystem starting from an Linux installation and configuration. Course contains:

    • Introduction of Linux file systems, commands, and text editors.
    • The use of command line and Bash shell
    • Managing Linux processes
    • Basic administrative tasks in Linux
    • Linux servers and network settings

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Exercises and practical usage test (Examination).

    6 exercises, 0-2 points per exercise. Minimum 9 out of 12 points required.

    Practical examination is done in a classroom with on your own laptop. You're given 5 tasks. Of the first 4, you need to do 3 successfully. The 5th task is to download and compile a program and demonstrate that it is running. The assistant will check the tasks in at the exam. To pass you need to do the 5th task successfully and 3 out of the 4 first tasks successfully.
