LEARNING OUTCOMES

After successfully completing the course, the student is able to:

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    The course includes lectures, demonstrations, workshops, tutoring sessions, and interactions with external stakeholders. Students create functional design collections based on a customer's design brief, collaborating with external stakeholders. Contents vary from one implementation to the next depending on the the external stakeholder and the scope of the collaboration project. Students are familiarized with in the functional aspects of clothing, materials and manufacturing techniques. Lectures and demonstrations covers sportswear and accessories, workwear, children’s wear, functional materials and functional details. Students are introduced to principles in functional clothing and material design and emphasizing the link between user needs, ergonomics, technical requirements and aesthetic appeal. Working with stakeholder introduces students to commercial field and professional way of working.   FaCT students: the course is recommended to be combined with one of the advanced workshop courses: MUO-E1062 Advanced Knits and Knitwear Workshop, MUO-E1063 Advanced Printed Fabrics and Finishes workshop, MUO-E1065 Woven Fabrics and Jacquards Workshop. MUO-E1061 Advanced 3D shaping workshop.  

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Assignments. 100% active attendance, of which 20% can be covered with additional assignment.

    Course workload 6 ECTS = 162 h. Participation in 80% of the contact teaching is mandatory.
