LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student understands the role of music in the film's overall expression and the unique requirements of the abstract nature of music. The student can understand the relationship of music to the other elements of a film soundtrack, film editing and dramaturgy. The student learns the importance of pre-planning music and is familiar with the different stages of producing music in film production. The student can evaluate music's content and technical possibilities in film expression. The student can express their views on music and can perceive analytically whole entities.

Content

    Contact teaching, assignments, literature.

    The course introduces students to the history and practice of film music through examples and examines the relationship between dramaturgy, editing, sound design, script and music. The film examples are analysed by discussing and exploring the possibilities and meanings of artistic choices through comparative examples.
