LEARNING OUTCOMES

At course completion, you will:

- be able to take part in events related to work.

- be able to give an oral presentation on work-related theme.

- understand the key contents of texts concerning everyday life and work without preparation.

- be able to write short work-related texts and know some terminology and special vocabulary of your field.

- have studied and will recognise the major differences between French-speaking cultures and your own in terms of customs, behaviours and attitudes.

Content

    The course focuses on oral and written communication situations in the workplace and everyday life and provides insight into key cultural features, while revising and building upon the grammatical structures learnt previously. You will learn to talk about your studies, expertise, your work or business, and your job description. 

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    1. Lectures 24 h or 36 h, active participation in class (10%). 80% attendance in class is required. Registration must be confirmed by attending the first lecture.

    2. Classroom tests and/or written assignments (20%)

    3. Oral test and/or oral assignments (20%)

    4. Written examination: 50%

Workload

    - Contact hours 24 h or 36 h

    - Independent work by the student and a written examination, and preparing for the exam: 57 or 45 h
