LEARNING OUTCOMES
The aim of the course is to give understanding on making process: Process development, Preliminary and Basic design. This course will help you to perform Practical Design Project form industry in Master education as well as skills in process and plant design, hand calculations, Aspen simulation and ability to work in the chemical process industry.
After the course student:
- Understands the basics of process development, preliminary and basic design of chemical processes
- Can search information for market and carry out feasibility study
- Can draw process flow diagrams (PFD), piping and instrumentation (PI) and layout drawings
- Can calculate material and energy balances and use of process simulation tools
- Can size the equipment, such as reactors, tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, pipes, control valves and solid handling
- Can select the appropriate construction materials
- Can understand energy savings and calculate heat integration by using pinch technology
- Can calculate process economics
- Can apply environmental, health and safety (EHS) principles in design
