LEARNING OUTCOMES

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Appraise the core concepts and principles of synthetic biology.
  2. Design synthetic biological systems with specified functions, considering modularity and standardization principles.
  3. Apply computational tools for modeling biological systems and analyzing biological data.
  4. Analyze literature and communicate scientific ideas on current topics in synthetic biology.
  5. Understand regulatory and safety guidelines governing the use of synthetic biology.

    This course combines principles from biology, engineering, computer science, and other disciplines to design and construct new biological entities, systems, or functions that do not exist in nature or to redesign existing biological systems for useful purposes.
