  You have to first register to the course: Syllabus -> Self enrolment. Otherwise submission boxes do not function (issue with MC).
  

  Initiation

  1. Obtain a topic and an instructor for your special assignment.
     
  2. Write together with your instructor a plan for the special assignment (1^st part of the plan form).

  Work

  1. Meet your instructor to plan the work in more detail.
     
  2. Fill the 2^nd part of the plan form together with the instructor, and then send it to the supervisor and submit to the box below -- Submission of the plan.
  3. While working on the subject, discuss your work regularly with the instructor.
  4. Document everything you do, because it may be useful later in the writing process.
  5. If it looks like that you will exceed the time limits, consult immediately the supervisor.
  6. Write the report. Consult the instructor during the writing process.

  
  

  Final steps

  1. Send the report to the instructor for evaluation.
  2. Fill the 3^rd part of the plan form based on your experience during the project and send it to the instructor.
     
  3. When the instructor has accepted your work, meet him/her to have a feedback discussion.
     
  4. Update the 3^rd part of the plan form based on the feedback you obtained and your thoughts about it.
  5. Update the submission of the plan form (now with all the three parts filled) to -- Submission of the plan.
  6. Submit the final report as a pdf file to -- Submission of the final report
  7. Ask the instructor to send an evaluation report to the supervisor. The supervisor confirms the evaluation, sends the record of it to grades-sci@aalto.fi for Sisu registration.
  8. Discuss with the instructor how to archive your samples, data, or other material generated during the project.
  9. Discuss with the instructor and the supervisor if the final report could be published in the Aaltodoc archive.
