    Exercise 7 The story of my future

    Exercises 7,8 and 9 are a continuous series. In the exercise 7 The story of my future you identify your personally compelling future. Knowing what kind of future you truly want, the picture becomes vivid and clear and it gives you something to aim at. In the exercise 8 Action plan you make concrete steps to the desired future vision and plan a timetable. In the exercise 9 Action plan for wellbeing you make a plan that supports your action plan and desired future to become true. 

    This is the place where you can imagine the best possible future for yourself. What do you dream about? How does a satisfactory life for you look like? If you don't have "a passion" or "dreams", you have several interests, though. If you follow the motivated interests, they can eventually lead to career passions. Your passions might be outside work such as sports, family or hobbies. Remember to think of your own values as a starting point, don't think what some other people might wait for you to accomplish.

    Exercise no 7 takes about 20 minutes.

      First, spend five minutes by reflecting the best possible future, a reality when your dreams have come true and your life is fulfilling. 

      Write about the situation where your dreams have become a reality. Write in a present tense as if it were already true.

      Use strong positive words, forget NOT’S ("I’m not in a hurry.")  => "I can manage my own time."

      Remember that you get what you order: if you write "I have time for exercising" you only get the time slot. If you write "I exercise two times a week", the action is already there.

      Write about your life when your ambitions and dreams have become a reality. 

      Describe your dream job as accurately as you can. What does your day entail? What are you responsible for? How is your work measured? Who do you meet, who do you collaborate with, and how much human contact does your work involve? What size is the organisation around you? Are you an entrepreneur? What does your work environment look like? Are you mobile or stable? Write down as tangibly as possible the things you see and hear around you on a typical day at your dream job.

      Write in present tense as if it were already happening!

      Write as concretely as you can: Year, country, season, setting, people, view, colours etc.
