This part of the course tackles the following learning outcomes:
- The student is able to model the operation of microwave circuits and resonators with suitable circuit quantities and parameters (e.g., resonant frequency, quality factor, and S-, Z-, Y-, ABCD-parameters).
- The student can analyse their operation based on pen and paper calculations and simulations (AWR).
After this topic you should command the following topics:
- Microwave Resonators (Pozar Chapter 6, especially 6.1)
- Microwave
Network Analysis (Pozar Chapter 4, especially 4.2-4.5) on "paper and
pen" and circuit simulator (AWR). One is supposed to learn to analyze
various circuits including microwave components, such as filters, power
splitters/dividers, amplifiers etc.
- The used analysis methods are 1) S-parameters (Chapter 4.3) and 2) Transmission (ABCD) parameters (Chapter 4.4.)
