Topic outline

  • Welcome to General chemistry lab course/Fall 2020! This MyCourses workspace is important as most of the activities happen through this. It is also an essential channel of information.

    Teachers:

The learning process in this course will be facilitated by different activities:

    1. Lessons on MyCourses: On this course there will be three topical Lessons. These enable you to get familiar with the topic and theoretical frame. Done individually, this is a graded item, up to 3 course points.
    2. Two topical workshops via zoom: These are to deepen your learning on the topics introduced by the Lessons. There will be two topical workshops online, on Tuesday Oct 27 and Thursday Oct 29, at 12:15-14:00. There will be an introduction to the topic, activities, and a workout on data handling with Excel. Attendance is not graded but these are highly recommended as especially data treatment is essential for your lab work.
    3. Lab project in CHEM teaching lab and MyCourses assignments: There will be a lab project with five lab exercises and one virtual lab. There will be graded MyCourses assignments related to the lab exercises both before and after the lab. MyCourses assignments are worth up to 15 course points. Lab work is documented into a lab journal, which is graded, up to 10 course points.
    4. Calculation exercise on MyCourses: One exercise on chemical problems, mainly calculations. The solutions are submitted individually online, this is a graded item, up to 2 course points.
    5. Lab report: The lab project is summarized in a lab report. This is a graded item, up to 20 course points.
