Topic outline

  • CHEM-E1110 Lignocellulose Chemistry provides a deep understanding on the structure and reactivity of the main components (cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin, extractives) of plant biomass, often called lignocellulose, with emphasis on the fundamentals and industrial relevance. The course consists of lectures and laboratory works. In order to pass the course, you need to submit laboratory reports (work to be done in pairs), keep a personal learning diary and participate in a final discussion with the professor.

Due to the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, part of the laboratory works will be replaced with other, virtually organized exercises. On week 44, such an exercise will be during the Friday lab time slot. A preliminary schedule of lectures and exercises/labs is shown below. Changes are possible depending e.g. on the number of enrolled students.
