  • Course taught during 2nd period, autumn 2021. First lecture Monday 1st November at 12:15-14:00 in Ke-4.  The course of 2021 is taught hybrid, that is it has contact teaching but one can also complete the course and participate teaching remotely, see completion instructions.

    Course content: A molecular level, microscopic approach to thermodynamics. Molecular driving forces and especially entropy as a driving force in soft materials systems. Focus on chemical and biological systems such as liquids, surfactants, proteins, and polymers.

    The course employs as course book: Ken A. Dill and Sarina Bromberg, Molecular Driving Forces, 2nd Edition, Garland Science. ISBN 978-0-8153-4430-8. Additional material is provided during the course.
