  • Welcome to LC-1310 Academic Communication for MSc Students!

    This is a Master's level course completed online with weekly independent assignments and some compulsory Zoom sessions. Please check-in for weekly updates in this MyCourses workspace. Prior to the first Zoom session on Friday, September 16th, you are expected to complete three pre-course assignments. Please begin to work on those pre-course assignments immediately after you have been invited to the group.

    The course is divided into two main sections involving academic (1) writing and (2) speaking skills. The first seven weeks involve writing skills and an exercise referred to as the Review paper (1200-1500 words) – see Course assignments and assessment for more information. During the course, we will build the report in steps and implement a writing process typical of academic writing. The rest of the weeks focus on preparing an oral presentation based on the same topic as your written report.
