GROUP TASK INSTRUCTIONS:
This group work is focusing on the ways we can use scientific knowledge about various themes related to urban experiences in planning and design. Please prepare in groups a peer-teaching session about the theme that you have chosen. You can use whatever pedagogical approach in the peer-teaching task. You will have 15-20 min time for your teaching session.
Pick the theme that your group is dealing with and:
- Watch the video lecture about the topic of your group to learn what I am going to teach related to the topic. You are not supposed to cover the same material that I will discuss in my lecture but provide complementing perspectives. So: PLEASE DO NOT REPEAT MARKETTA's TEACHING!
- FInd & read additional material about the topic:
- Studies and theories related to the theme
- The ways how to apply this knowledge in urban & transportation planning and design
The focus in the peer teaching will be in the applications of the theme in planning and design but it is excellent if you deepen our understanding about the topic by reading additional research material and present some parts of it in your session.Your first task in to choose your group. Then PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO FIND MATERIAL ABOUT THE THEME OF YOUR GROUP.-
Lecture about Functional Environment
There are many perspectives to the functional environments. Accessibility is sure an important element of a functional city. Therefore, let's take as an example the publication by ARUP concerning a walkable city (Cities Alive PDF below). Please feel free to find other examples of how to develop the functional quality of environment.
