Topic outline
-
The main part of the coursework consists of studying relatively recent books about architectural and design research (see Course Literature). The books will be studied as group work in static study groups. Group I is reserved specifically for Interior Architecture majors, and Group D for doctoral students if there are enough of them.
The Book Review Reading Circle System
Each group has maximum 6–7 members. The members stay the same throughout the course, but everyone has a certain role and tasks that circulate from class to class.
Each 2-week period between the classes (2–7) make one working cycle. During each cycle, the group studies one book from the view point of one theme. The descriptions of the roles, their tasks and the themes can be found below on separate pages. Each cycle ends with the group report, the leader's report, and the leader's feedback on one other group's report. The reports are due and the feedback module is available for 2 days before the next class (so, in other words, there are 2 days for the leaders to give their feedback). We'll discuss your reports during the classes; Anni will do the feedback allocation (who will review what) manually for each cycle.
The drawing below illustrates an example group's work during classes 2 to 7.
