    COURSE GRADING COMPLETED

    ... and the information should be in SISU now.

    boundary 94 points -> 5
    boundary 88 points ->4
    etc.

    BW,

    Jyrki

    Simscape Simulation assignment 1 has been graded.

    In the grading, it has considered as an "error", if the cylinder A pressure signal has been taken "after the Counterbalance valve". (see the figure below)

    - The pressures really are different during lowering(!).

    - With the A chamber pressure ("before the Counterbalance valve") the a) load (mg) is held and b) the B chamber pressure force compensated. -> relatively small pressure

    - The pressure "after the Counterbalance valve" consists of pressure losses in pipe, proportional control valve and tanket inlet piping ,and also dynamic pressure is lost in the tank (check Bernoulli equation) -> relatively small pressure

    - During lifting the Check Valve causes a small pressure difference (cracking pressure is 0.3e5 Pa). The pressures "before" and "after" are very close to each other.

    However,  because this "error" was also made (inadvertently) by teacher during the teaching session, the "errors" made by the students will be compensated in grading. So, at the moment, the grading is not finished. This "error" was quite useful from pedagogical perspective.

    Sorry for the inconvenience!

    Assignment 2

    was graded already on (24.11.2022), but the feedback files were not uploaded! Uploading done now (19.12.2022).

    Simscape Simulation assignment 2 (GROUPS)

    has been graded (12.12.2022)

    ....................................................................................................

    On Wednesday 23.11.2002 there was NO simulation session.

    We can use part of Tuesday's session (29.11.) to go through the Simscape Simulation assignment 2 (GROUPS) once more. The Deadline is 30.11.2022.

    Thank you for visiting our laboratory!  (Laboratory visit on Tuesday 22.11.2022)

    If you have any questions related to the demos, we are happy to answer!

    Points for you and your Group have been given:

    - 2 points, if your Research group has attendance (some members of your group visit the laboratory)

    and

    - 2 points, if you attend the laboratory visit personally

    (this means that: maximum is 2 + 2 = 4 points)

    Location of laboratory:
    K4 building, Sähkömiehentie 4
    Use the laboratory door behind the building (see the red arrow in the map below).

    Assignment 1 has been graded

    Nice work with the Mathcad templates!

    The long and complex assignment was probably not too easy.

    Many relevant problems had to be solved during the assignment.

    You did very well!

    Deadline updated 4.11.2022 -> 16.11.2022

    You can see the schedule on the right side ->

    In our Fluid Power courses we will use …
    • Matlab
    • Simulink
    • Simscape Fluids (in this Systems course, remember to install "Fluids" package, also)

      As you have Aalto's IT license, you can download Matlab and some other useful software to your personal computers, if you like from web page .... https://download.aalto.fi/index-en.html

    • We will use also Mathcad, but you can’t download it from Aalto’s pages.
      • You can also use Mathcad in Aalto’s classrooms. There might be some potential issues with Mathcad versions. (in classroom is probably version 7)
      • You can also use Aalto’s classroom licenses remotely …. with some magic, which I can inform you later.
      • You can download free and limited version … very likely from … https://www.mathcad.com/en/try-and-buy/mathcad-express-free-download -> this is probably version 8, you can't read version 8 files with version 7 software.
