  • Welcome to the course TU-E1031 - Advanced Case-seminar in Strategy!

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE TIME OF THE FINAL SEMINAR SESSION ON 12.10.2022 HAS CHANGED TO INCLUDE CASE SOLVING IN TIMES-FORMAT BETWEEN 12-15, FOLLOWED BY THE SEMINAR SESSION BETWEEN 15-17. THE CORRECT TIME HAS BEEN UPDATED TO SISU.

The course teaches solving strategic business problems structured around Harvard-type business cases, and the course includes an introductory lecture and five case seminar sessions. The cases are presented and judged in collaboration with established strategy consulting companies: Accenture, August Associates, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey & Company.

Students work in groups of 3-5 members to address the provided case material and to prepare a solution either during the week before the seminar session (sessions 1-4) or during a limited time slot of three hours (session 5). The solution is submitted and presented to a panel of judges including consultants from the partner company of each week, who evaluate the results and the presentation of the group. The presentations typically take place in the premises of the partner companies in the center of Helsinki.

The registration period for the course is between 8.8.-2.9.2022. The maximum number of students on the course is limited due to practical constraints, and admissions to the course may be prioritized based on study program and academic major/minor.

The responsible teacher/instructor of the course is Kaarlo Väisänen (kaarlo.vaisanen@aalto.fi), and the course takes place during teaching period I of fall 2022 between 7.9.-12.10.2022.
