Urban studies is a multidisciplinary field, in which a variety of methods are used to understand how cities are formed and transformed, produced and reproduced by its users, the surrounding society, policy making and planning.

During the course, you will learn about key themes in urban studies and understand how different urban phenomena are manifested in space. The course consists of readings and related small tasks, which we will discuss in class. During the course, you will also produce a paper on a phenomenon you find interesting in your city, and explore how it relates to the literature in urban studies, and what policy implication the phenomenon has.
