LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course consists of three themes. Firstly the students will be introduced to aims and general goals of doctoral studies. Lectures will also include practical aspects such as writing papers as well as general topics on research, patenting, and experimental design. In a second part, presentation skills will be developed. Students will work in both small groups and present before larger audiences. In the third part subjects such as researcher ethics, intellectual property rights, and research methods will be treated.

Content

Introduction to doctoral studies and to professional research work, including the knowledge of research ethics and the various skills needed at scientific research work, such as writing and presentation skills.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

Each student must produce and present two presentations. No exam. Student must attend at least 75% of lectures.
