Topic outline

  • What if

Kate Palmer Albers suggests in her book The Night Albums (2021) an alternative thinking for photography: What if photography was always thought of as ephemeral instead of permanent. In a similar vein, reconsider and re-imagine your conceptions on photography and start producing work and experimentations that explore a ”What if”.

Imagine if photography had entirely different loci than what have been considered as central to photography

Re-read an archive and imagine an alternative archive

Imagine a future for photographic materiality

Imagine doing something differently than you have done before

Imagine intuitive work processes by exploring and experimenting with materials and techniques

Imagine mistakes, failure and chance becoming an essential part of your creative process

Imagine how material choices are an integral part of communication and affect in your work interpretation

Imagine how your art, your ideas, and concepts meet their viewers and circulate

Imagine a future life for your photographic material and immaterial work
