      Welcome to the Business Intelligence course!

      The course includes a collaboration with both Tableau and Turku School of Economics (TSE) on a joint competition, which is also the course's final assignment. Due to the need to accommodate the course time of TSE, the final assignment will be published in the last week of the course teaching period.

      The objective of the course is to give the students an understanding of data-informed decision-making. The focus is on business-oriented analytical skills, which enable the students to work with the data, understand them and turn them into intelligence and actions.

      After the course, you will be able to:
      • Obtain an understanding of data-informed decision-making in enterprises.
      • Obtain business-oriented analytical skills using Power BI, Tableau, and Weka.
      • Understand the challenges of working with the data, understanding them, and turning them into intelligence and actions.
      Evaluation schema
      1. Power BI assignment (20%)
      2. Weka assignment (40%)
      3. Tableau assignment (40%)

      BI software study: Support is available for your study of Power BI and Weka
      Time. Please feel free to contact the lecturer or TA.

      Learning diary
      Please register your attendance in the classes! You need to write a learning diary to supplement each class you are absent. The topic of the learning diary for each class will be available in the "Learning diary" section.
      - If you attend the class, you don't need to submit the learning diary for that class.
      - Failure to submit a learning diary or the learning diary failing to meet the requirements will lead to a minus of 2 points (2/100) for each learning diary.
      - If you forget to register your attendance, please contact the teacher.

      Important Dates:
      February 26: First lecture
      March 13: DL for forming a group of 3 - 5 members for the Tableau assignment (If active team members are less than three, please contact the lecturer).
      March 15: DL for Power BI assignment
      March 18 (Monday, ~12:00): Peer assessment of the Power BI assignment starts
      March 27: DL for Power BI assignment peer assessment.
      April 08: DL for Weka assignment
      April 11 (Thursday, ~12:00): Peer assessment of the Weka assignment starts
      April 15: DL to submit learning diary (only for unattended lectures, excluding online video sessions)
      April 17: DL for Weka assignment peer assessment.

      April 09 (~14:00): Tableau Challenge Announcement
      April 19 at 13:00: DL to submit videos and reports (Tableau Challenge)
      April 20 (~13:00): Five teams will be selected and informed to participate in the final competition.
      April 23 (10:00 – 13:00): Final Competition Event (5 teams)
