  • Welcome to Letterpress printing workshop

    Note: The workshop begins with a separate intro session in the Printmaking Studio     (Metallimiehenkuja 3) on Wednesday before workshop week, 9.15–11.00. This intro is mandatory for all participants. 


    This is an intensive workshop introducing handsetting and letterpress printing in the Printmaking Studio facilities. The participants learn the basics by making their own free setting / settings and presswork. 


    The participants learn the basics of letterpress printing: 

    • principles of handsetting
    • vocabulary
    • materials and tools
    • use of three different printing machines and
    • print making principles.
     
    Workshop content
    Short overview of history of letterpress with examples.
    Presentation of the studio.
    Demonstration of handsetting and print making.
