CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    This course explores the broad impact that mechanical engineering as a field and profession has on society and how engineers can better take societal considerations into account. Societal impact is viewed through the lens of various global challenges, such as future sustainability. The course employs the university's cross-cutting strategies as organizing themes. Students will have an opportunity to connect the course themes to examples from their major or field of interest, as well as real-world engineering case studies.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Completion and quality of individual assignments and participation in lectures or replacement tasks. Course grade (0-5) determined by the amount of points accrued.

Workload
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Individual assignments and either participation in face-to-face lectures or completion of replacement tasks.
