LEARNING OUTCOMES

The knowhow needed for a rock facility planner in general or for structural planning. Students are able to:

- describe the planning tasks in a rock engineering project

- select appropriate rock investigation and rock mechanical modelling methods

- select rock excavation and rock reinforcement methods

- explain the legal, safety and environmental requirements in rock construction work in small planning group

Content

    General planning and special requirements for the typical rock facilities. Special solutions for excavation and reinforcement in rock construction. General elements for underground rock reinforcement design, types of rock reinforcement that may be utilized in the underground environment. Monitoring of rock structures.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Grading: 50 % Exam and 50 % Exercises

    Exam questions can consists anything taught on the lectures, exercises or other material provided.
