Content

The course is built around a number of real-life innovative solutions in operations and services. These solutions are presented by invited guest lecturers from industry and research groups. The students are this way - in class - taken to the cutting-edge of practice by the guest lecturer and challenged to address a current innovation problem. In doing so, the students will propose a real-life innovative solution.
Students will in groups work on one specific innovation problem, and evaluate solution proposals to all others presented in the course. Both solution and evaluation activities are conducted in a group. In class, innovation management theory is introduced and discussed in the context of the innovation problems and solution proposals.
An individual concluding assignment allow students to synthesize and reflect on the full course work.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

Students are assessed based on their group activities (solving the innovation task, evaluations of other student group's solution proposals) and individual work (application of innovation management theory for synthesis and reflection).

Students are given priority as follows 1) Master's students in Industrial Engineering and Management program, 2) students minoring in Operations Management, 3) exchange students in the Industrial Engineering and Management Master's program, and 4) other students.
