After participating in the course, students should (1) know and have critically evaluated the most important concepts, theories and frameworks of strategic management; (2) be able to evaluate and make sense of critical business situations using these concepts, theories and frameworks, and (3) be able to propose and justify decisions and courses of action that are likely to improve or sustain business performance and lead to success, again using these concepts, theories and frameworks.

Strategic management takes a holistic perspective on a company or business and is concerned with its overall health and performance. This course introduces students to the key concepts, theories and frameworks of strategic management and helps them apply them to business-critical situations, i.e., situations that call for understanding the reasons for (high or low) business performance and that may require concrete decisions and courses of action in order to improve or sustain business performance.
