LEARNING OUTCOMES
After successfully completing this course, students are able to:
- Apply and develop design desiderata of the project by designerly means;
- Plan and execute a validation study of a conceptual design proposal;
- Develop the design to a sufficient maturity level for the evaluation and presentation;
- Report the validation findings of the design proposal and present the concept convincingly;
- Articulate how concept and knowledge spaces developed during the design in line with the literature of design theory.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content
valid for whole curriculum period:
This studio course continues the students' design project from Emerging Designs from the previous Fall. During the course, students will apply design to build knowledge of the conceptual propositions by performing a validation of the concept or a key feature of it. The students will plan the validation, plan and execute the necessary prototypes and materials, perform the study, and report it in the form of a short academic paper. The concept proposal will be presented to relevant stakeholders. The course encourages students to present their concepts to stakeholders for feedback, thereby melding professional insight with academic rigor. This approach not only hones students' design competencies but also prepares them to tackle complex design challenges with a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
Assessment Methods and Criteria
valid for whole curriculum period:
Evaluation is based on active participation of the student to learning events and team project, assessment of the project and the report of it, including the reflection. Self-evaluation and peer evaluation is also used.
Workload
valid for whole curriculum period:
Total course workload 9 cr = 243 h
- 44 h contact teaching
- 158 h independent and teamwork
- 40 h independent reflection
- 1 h course evaluation
