Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Attain an increased awareness of our sonic environment.
- Observe and understand both actual and virtual world (media) from the point of view of sound.
- Have an understanding of properties and meanings of sound, understanding elements and ingredients of music, understanding the MIDI standard.
- Sketch audio with DAW/ MIDI tools.
- Verbalise sounds and sonic experiences.

Content

The course gives a broad overview of various aspects of sound design and the history of Western music culture. The course is targeted to Sound in New Media MA major and minor students, but anyone interested is welcome to enrol.
