LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will be able to recognize the main features of particular genre, topic, or authors in documentary film.

Students will be able to apply some of these features into a documentary film exercise.

CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    This course features varying contents. The course might explore particular genres within the documentary mode. The course might also study a documentary author in-depth, focus on a particular historical period, or explore a theoretical concept as applied in documentary. This course might also take the form of a workshop in which students will carry out a film exercise.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

    Completing the course require students active participation and the completion of a written assignment or oral presentation. Depending on content, the course might occasionally take the form of a workshop in which completion of a film exercise will be required.  

Workload
  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    At least 80% participation in face-to-face teaching is mandatory to complete the course. If, due to absences, the student does not achieve the learning outcomes defined in the course description, the remaining 20% may have to be compensated as determined by the responsible teachers of the course. All absences must be reported to the teachers in charge. The responsible teachers of the course will specify the necessary compensating assignments.

    Lectures, film screenings, independent study and discussions.
