CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    This course explores the possibilities of exhibition making in the age of digital images, utilizing so-called off-site location(s) to imagine, create, display, and document artworks. While experience of independent artistic practice is required, extensive background in exhibition making is not necessary. By the end of the course, each student will have created an online PDF exhibition using their own and their classmates' documentation images of the artworks made during the course.

Assessment Methods and Criteria

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    The course requires 80% attendance at group and individual tutoring sessions, the production of an artwork for a specific site, the documentation of this and the production of a PDF using images from all artworks made during the course, and learning diary entries. Assessment emphasises individual processes rather than a set objective.

Workload

  • valid for whole curriculum period:

    Evening lectures and group meetings every other week, individual tutoring meetings and learning diary. Independent artistic practice, documentation, and image post-processing using Lightroom. Creation of a PDF using InDesign.

    Registration:

    Prioritization order for admission is based on the prioritization criteria established by Aalto ARTS:

    After the registration has closed, SISU conducts a raffle to allocate all the seats while considering the possible prioritisation order stated above. If there are more registrants than available seats, ten (10) students from the remaining applicants are drawn and placed on a waiting list in numerical order. On the first day of the course, these students may check for available seats in case of no-shows. Any available seats are then filled in numerical order.

    All applicants will receive an email containing details about the registration status, once the registration period has closed.

    Minimum amount of participants is 8 students, maximum 15.
