After having passed this course the student can:
- analyze material systems for potential, innovative concepts with thin films
- indentify the functions of materials that can be engineered by thin films
- predict how the physical characteristics correlate with thin-film properties and functions
- select characterization methods for the key physical properties of thin films
- select the optimal thin-film deposition methods and materials based on the case
