LEARNING OUTCOMES

Through completing the course, the participants will:

  • understand the principles of value creation in service systems;
  • comprehend the factors affecting the productivity and sustainability of service operations;
  • understand how service providers design services and service experiences, and integrate resources in the innovation for new service solutions;
  • identify the contemporary developments in networked, value-focused, and platform-enabled service operations;
  • be familiar with the theoretical perspectives relevant to the transformation of technology businesses toward service-based value creation.

Content

    The course focuses on the analysis and design of services and service systems from the perspectives of the productivity and sustainability of service-based operations. The course covers the fundamental principles of the service economy, multi-actor value creation in service operations, innovation for new service concepts in complex service systems, modularity of service solutions, business models in service ecosystems, and institutional change towards sustainable service-based value creation.
