Problems, stakeholders and landscapes of sustainability research
Brainstorm and visualise the knowledge
making landscape of a sustainability intervention. The case study is Uutela, Helsinki, where there have been controversial proposals to construct eco-friendly cabins for recreational use.
Continue working in groups of 4-6 to skecth out the beginnings of a research project to address the issue. Your task is to produce arguments to be neutral, to defend or to oppose the proposal. These briefs were given in class 8.5.2019.
Present your plan as a poster using simple graphics on an A3 sheet of paper. Your proposal should involve many different fields of expertise and experience and requires input from different academic disciplines over a period of about one year. If you wish, your project could be longer.
You will start the work in class and finalise the assignment in your own time. Presentations and submission of hard copies of the poster 15.5. and 22.5.
1) Explain what kind of research approach you will take.
2) You might consider the following issues: what disciplines and which stakeholders will you engage? What data and/or material will you need and how can you access it or, if necessary, produce it? How can you justify the relevance of the research you will produce?
3) Present your project as a group either 15.5. or 22.5. and submit the hard copy of your poster to the teacher.
