"Papers should clearly
describe the nature of the work, explain its significance, highlight its novel
features, and state its current status. Paper length should be 6 pages in the
standard format"
- Your first task is to generate a title
for your paper. As your focus may still be a little unclear, develop
three (3) candidates for the title with different approaches. One can,
for example, focus on the development process, one on the more detailed
things like material parameters, algorithms or usability issues and one
on, well you can figure it out.
- Next you should write the introduction section of your paper. If your title is still unclear you can keep the introduction more general at this point and update it later. Introduction should describe the nature of the work and explain its significance, the motivation behind the project. Why this research is done? Who cares? Important part of the introduction is the state of the art in the research field in question. What others have already done, what is known and what is not known. How these things are normally done? What are the theories behind your research question? This is the part of the paper where most of the literature references will be used.
- Third task for this exercise is to have a skeleton for the rest of the paper. Table of contents including the planned headlines and some notes about the content with bulleted lists.
In addition, find 10 scientific articles related to your project. For example, you can look for:
- State of the art (the most recent stage in the development of a product, incorporating the newest ideas and features)
- Proof of concept (existing solutions that demonstrate that your approach is viable)
- Theory that you could use (models, equations, algorithms, ...)
- Ideas and solutions for your project
- Background,
motivation, applications (framework, field of operation, necessity,
potential users and customers, economical or technical impact)
- ...
List the articles as references at the end of your paper. You should also utilise them in your introduction.
