Assignment 4b - Loopholes, hackers and planners broken vision (mid-day checkup)
Goal:
Carefully analyze the rules defined by the other group together, and attempt to deconstruct them. The goal is to make explicit the incentives and deterrents these rules create for actors utilizing them in development of the target area.
Attempt to uncover possible fallacies or internal conflicts in the rule set, and think: what would be the result if these rules were followed to their logical conclusion?
You will find other groups' ruleset's as attachment on course front page.
Group A will review Group C's ruleset.
Group C will review Group D's ruleset
Group D will review Group A's ruleset.
Things to consider:
This time You play the liveability-wise indifferent or even hostile adversary trying to use Your scoring system for the benefit of her agenda
Method:
- After discovering the pitfalls in the other groups model, exemplify them by modeling the results of following the rules in Giraffe or a 3d-program of Your choice. If You use other software, make sure to present the environment in enough detail to recognize the places.
- Your examples might be e.g. “What would these rules mean for the development of Otaniementie street's surroundings, should a developer abuse the rules to maximize building mass?”
- As a group/pair, produce a presentation with screenshots from the models & other visual material accompanied by bullet points of the observed flaws.
- Attempt to exhaustively demonstrate a diverse set of effects, not simply the same effect manifesting in various places in the target area.
