Interdisciplinary co-created research article
[six (6) to eight (8) pages in length, New Times Roman, font size 12, including supporting graphical content (figures, tables, graphs) to a maximum of 10-15% of the total article length]
This assignment is created in small groups of three persons (or in pairs) if there is no possibility to create a group of three. You will get you group from the course staff. This assignment includes the use of supporting figures and graphics that add clarity to the written words. References are not included in the total page limit.
This assignment gives you the opportunity to acquire the collaborative skills necessary for working with other authors from differing research backgrounds. Firstly, negotiate and decide upon a topic of shared interest with a scientific focus, and then write an article about that topic using a shared document. The competence/skills activated during this assignment include ideation (individual, group), peer-review of text, co-creation, editing, incubation, appropriate selection of supporting figures/graphics, proofreading, revision, improving cohesion and flow etc.). This written assignment is submitted in PDF format for proofreading feedback (written comments).
The reason for the strict requirement regarding the standardised size and choice of font to be used for all content submissions (New Times Roman, size 12) is because the emphasis of this course is on creating good written content, not on creating fancy layouts and using different fonts/font sizes to make a meagre amount of content stretch to fill a whole page. You cannot pull the wool over the eyes of those who review your writing. It is best to learn this lesson now! Otherwise, you will only be fooling yourself for a short-term reward (securing the credits you need). Also, please remember that all written content submissions must be in PDF format.
Please submit the exercise to MyCourses, one PDF per group is enough. Don't forget to mention the names of all group members in your group. Name the file with the last name of one group member.
Feedback on your article
You will receive detailed proofreading comments on your written content submissions and face-to-face feedback.
A 20-minute face-to-face
group feedback session for the interdisciplinary co-created research article is
compulsory for all participants of this course. The face-to-face feedback
session is compulsory because it has real value. Reviewing your shared creation
as a group is best experienced in a face-to-face setting where constructive
feedback flourishes best. The zoom group-feedback session is only as a last
resort option if scheduling a group meeting is not possible. At the feedback
session you can ask your own questions about the reviewer comments given on
your work – or anything else related to academic writing that you may wish to
ask about.
You will get your group feedback time from the course staff.
