Assignment 3
The purpose of this assignment is to deepen the students’ understanding of multi-attribute value theory, implementation of value models and how these models can be used to support decision making. Furthermore, the purpose is also to demonstrate the relation of these models to multi-objective optimization. The deadline is 12:15 pm 1.12.2022. Please read the general and task-specific instructions carefully while working with the assignment.
General instructions:
- This assignment is accompanied by two MATLAB files. Please note that these files use functions intlinprog and linprog which are included in Optimization Toolbox of MATLAB.
- This assignment follows a continuous narrative. Please read the assignment instructions carefully before starting to solve the problems.
- The assignment report should answer to all the questions/tasks that are denoted with bracketed numbers from (1) to (19). Use full sentences and justify your answers with, e.g., mathematical formulations, whenever needed.
- Include your completed MATLAB files Assignment3Code1.m and Assignment3Code2.m as electric attachments in your submission.
- Hand-written report is acceptable, provided that the handwriting is legible.
- Attach a cover page (available on the “Assignments” subpage in MyCourses) to your report.
- Include your name and student number on the cover page of your report.
- Submit the report as a pdf-file on “Assignments” subpage in MyCourses.
- You may discuss the problems with your fellow students, but solutions must be submitted individually. Copying is strictly forbidden.
- The total score of this assignment contributes at most 11 assignment points which are added to the course evaluation. For late submissions, one assignment point is reduced per every additional 12 h of delay.
Useful tips:
To help you validate the results regarding to the value functions and attribute weights here is a couple of solutions to the task (5). The overall values of sites 7 and 9 are V(x^7)=0.6964 and V(x^9)=0.3713 (to four decimal places).
