Dear Master School Community,

We really hope everyone is coping well under the current exceptional circumstances: staying at home and going to classes remotely will save lives. As the health and well-being of our students is our priority, followed by the quality of your learning experience, the outlook for the next six months is unfortunately uncertain. No one can yet predict when things might go back to some form of normality. This is a shame, but we must all remain positive and play the hand we have been dealt rather than the one we expected or would hope for. Looking forward, even under the shadow of Covid-19, thoughts may turn to how the Master School Programme might be completed. Hopefully the first of two updates coming your way will help you plan for the coming year.

Part 1: The Journey Summer School 2020

As mentioned in our last email to you, the Journey team is working with partners across Europe to develop a plan B. This involves a large team of people looking at how the Journey 2020 can be adapted to the Covid-19 situation. No final decisions have yet been taken. The overriding goal is that a new Journey format will meet the same learning objective as previous Journey editions. The Journey team will come to a decision and communicate with all participants by the end of April.

The Covid-19 safe version of the Journey delivered this summer remains a mandatory element of your programme. Thus, all students enrolled in the Master School that were expected to attend in summer 2020, must still participate and cannot postpone their participation. Only in extremely exceptional circumstances, independent of the current pandemic, will we consider deferral to next year. We are sure you understand that logistically it would be extremely difficult to manage in 2021 if everyone decided to switch!

Additionally, more than ever, we need imagination of a better future and change-makers, like yourselves, to build this. The Journey 2020 will prioritise the question of how we can #buildbackbetter after the current crisis and be a fulcrum of hope and inspiration this summer.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you.

Kind Regards,

Master School Team
