Welcome

Please come and have a chat with the workshop masters. Together we can talk about your project and the possibilities for machining.

  • A Cad file is needed for the machinist to compile cutting paths with a Cam program.
  • Available machinery affects the sizing of objects that can be cut. Available selection of tools for each machine affects the geometric properties of the design.
  • The cutting path is information for the machine on what tool and parameters does it use for each cutting cycle of the machining operation.
  • The cutting paths from a Cam are processed into G- and M-codes which in turn are fed in to the computer in the cnc machine.
  • Machining operations are performed with various cutting tools which remove material from workpiece according to cutting data derived from provided cad data.
  • Each machine has a tool library from which a tool is chosen make the desired cut.
  • The material being machined, workpiece, needs to be held on the machine. Workholding needs to be taken into consideration when designing for cnc machines.
  • As a rule of thumb; complex objects need complex workholding, which often need to be manufactured prior the machining of the desired object.
