How to Open Panopto via the Discussion Forum and Record with Panopto

-->Add a new discussion

-->Subject (enter subject as instructed)

Message field

To record with Panopto and create a link automatically to your video:

-->In the Message field, click on the green Panopto icon to the right of the icons above the field, or at the end in the list of functions to enter “Insert from Panopto”

In the drop-down menu, check that the folder chosen is the course you want to upload the video to [in our case now:  LCA-1111].

[Only those registered to the course will see the video.]

MyC-Panopto

Choose-Upload-Record. Click “Record”. Next you’ll be asked to enter a name for your video and then the Record function will be activated. Click Record  ‘Launch Application’ Panopto Recorder ‘Open link’.

Select the correct folder if the course folder doesn’t show automatically, and add a name for the video if this also doesn’t show automatically.

Check the settings:

Primary sources: You’ll need video, audio and high or ultra.

Secondary sources: (Choose Capture PowerPoint and/or Main Screen if you wish to film what is on your screen. For now, leave these empty. Primary video source is enough.)

Start and stop the recording: Record. Stop. Upload.

Go back to MyC and the “Insert from Panopto” window (it’s probably open. If not, click on the same green Panopto icon in the Discussion forum.) You are (probably) still in the “Record” section. Once the video has been uploaded, you’ll see the first screenshot and “Complete”.

Choose-Upload-Record. Now go to “Choose”. Choose your video. (Can’t see it? Close the window and open it again by clicking on that famous Panopto icon in the Discussion forum.) Insert.

There it is! Now you can watch it, delete it and record again, or simply “Post to forum”.

If you wish just to test these functions, you can, of course, do so and then simply “cancel”, instead of “Post to forum”.

 PS. You can write text above and below the video clip.
